This Pineapple Log Cabin (aka Windmill Blades) Log Cabin quilt is done in an unusual combination of silk and probably some rayons. They are dress and men's tie fabrics from the 1920's and 30's. The darks and lights are well placed to emphasize the whirling pattern. Each piece is outlined with embroidery in a variety of colors. The wide borders are the same cotton fabric as used for the Bars pattern backing. The two opposing ends alternate fabrics. The quilt can be used equally well on the back side for a totally different look.
Condition is excellent. Although much of the quilt is silk, it does not have the same fragility as 19th century quilts. Measurements are 70" x 78" Pennsylvania origin.
