This classic Lancaster County Amish Diamond in a Square quilt is done with the most desirable of jewel colors. The front is entirely made of wool with a cotton backing. The center square is quilted with concentric stars. Both purple interior borders are quilted with what is known as a pumpkin seed pattern. The outer red border has the traditional scrolling feather. All of the needlework is finely done. The in intials SB are embroidered on a back corner. The interior of the quilt is in excellent condition. The binding has very slight damage to the front and areas on the back that have been mended. Fortunately, they do not show on the front. The quilt measures 82 inches square. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1920. The colors are a bit brighter and richer than appear on my screen.
