An exuberant quilt that is unusual in several ways. The egg yolk colored centers of each sunflower date to about 1890. The three different printed fabrics used for the diamonds all date between 1830 and 1850. Wonderful border treatment really does give the effect of rising suns. Very well quilted; unwashed condition. Fabrics used for the white background have aged to different shades of ivory. If washed, they would likely all be closer to the same shade of white but I prefer to let a quilt... Click for details

The dark brown corners of each meet to form an additional Four Patch, all done with some of the most lush, unusual fabrics that I have seen. Very good quilting. The Centennial bandanna forms a central medallion for this Log Cabin quilt done in the 1870's. It's always useful to have a date such as on the bandanna in order to verify the age of the fabrics forming the Log Cabin.
