The maker of this Baskets Quilt had a definite sense of whimsey; is is like no other I've seen. The shapes and placement of the baskets as well as the unusual appliqued forms in the border make this quilt a one of a kind. Indigo ground is also unusual. Some fading to the terra cotta calico around the baskets but fabrics all appear strong. Measures 72" x 78"; Pennsylvania origin. Circa 1870.
