Irish Chain is one of the most consistently popular quilt patterns. This example is made with an interesting indigo print of five point stars and small red circles. It's a material I have not seen previously. The off blocks are quilted with wreaths. The corner blocks are interesting in that they are variations of a Four Patch but not all the same. Whether or not this was intentional is difficult to know.
The quilt is in excellent condition. Measurements are 68 inches square. An embroidered message on the back says that it was "Made in Pennsylvania in 1875 for a trundle bed".
