To the best of my knowledge, this applique quilt is an original pattern. The stars are cleverly used throughout, both as whole and half blocks. The swag border frames the pattern well with shapes that are different from the interior but very complementary. The quilting is also out of the ordinary with the sunflowers as the primary pattern. Quilting in the stars radiates out from the center. Professionally laundered and in excellent condition. Measures 80' square. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.
