Streak of Lightning with One Patch Quilt; Oklahoma   $695   

This is a dynamic country quilt with a native American feel. The solid red and blue chambray of the streak of lightning jump out from the plaids and checks. In excellent condition. Back is dark blue and white gingham check. Measures 67" x 83". Oklahoma origin; circa 1910.

This bold Barnraising Log Cabin is made of wool challis from the 1870's. It reverses to a cotton calico One Patch. Dazzling use of stripes in the center. Some damage to the wools, much of which is visible in a close-up. It does not detract from the overall dramatic impact of the quilt. Measures 68" x 87"; Pennsylvania origin.

3 Hector Aguilar Silver Pins; Circa 1950   Sold  

Three pins by the well known Mexican designer, Hector Aguilar. The stick pin has an onyx stone; the decorative portion of the pin measures 1 inch in length; price is $325. Triangle pin measures both 2 1/4" in width and in length; $475. Bar pin is 2 1/2" wide and 1/2" tall; $325. Both bar and triangle pins are illustrated in Penny Morrill's "Silver Masters of Mexico".

This unusual half circle rug is both graceful and folky. Subtle variation in the background color adds to the depth of the design. Reminiscent of the classical urn themes seen in many decorative arts of 100 years earlier. Circa 1930; Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin. Wool; measures 37" wide and 24" tall.

This combination of braiding and knitting is typical of the rugs made by the Lancaster County Amish. Beautiful use of color and tone highlighted by the criss cross pattern in the center. Measures 31" x 41"; cotton. Circa 1930; excellent condition.

This is a pristine Ocean Waves quilt with a pieced bars back, typical of eastern Pennsylvania. Background color is an unusual slate blue/ gray highlighted with quilting in white thread. The quilting patterns alternate between bars and flowers. Nice variety of turn of the century fabrics. Measures 74" x 76".

The complex Philadelphia Pavement pattern is not often seen, particularly done by the Lancaster County Amish. This version is in pristine, unwashed condition. It has a wonderful contrast of lights and darks, made more intense by the shadings of blue blocks. Measures 86" x 88", large enough for a queen size bed. Lancaster County, Pa. origin; circa 1930.

Chinese Coins is a pattern not often seen, even more rarely when done on a diagonal as is this example. The blocks are fairly large but create a stunning effect whether used either vertically or horizontally. This would make a spectacular hanging in a stairwell or over a sofa because of the 54" x 76" size. All wool fabrics; Circa 1910. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Mennonite.

This is a classic Fans pattern, well made in nearly all solid color wools. Unusual background color of slate blue/gray. (The photos show the colors as more blue than in reality.) Pink and green embroidery offset the primarily dark colors of the quilt. Cable quilting in the border further adds to the overall depth of the pattern. Very slight fading throughout the border with one area of subtle discoloration visible in overall photo. Circa 1890; Pennsylvania Mennonite. Measures 68" square.

This is a funky hexagons quilt made of blocks of an unusual elongated shape. Many of the blocks are pieced together of more than one segment of the same fabric. Not the finest piecing but it makes a bold graphic statement with a rich variety of colors and fabrics. Circa 1880;Pennsylvania origin; measures 68" x 78:.
