Tree Everlasting Quilt: Circa 1850
Tree Everlasting Quilt: Circa 1850   $1,450

This traditional Tree Everlasting quilt pattern is done in soft printed fabrics of the mid 19th century. Perhaps it was the maker's attempt at humor to use a fabric of printed blue leaves on a pattern known as Tree Everlasting. It is well pieced and quilted with particular attention to the detail of the many triangles. Measurements are 86" x 94". Excellent condition.

Economy Patch Doll Quilt: Circa 1880; Pennsylvania   $285

Diamond in squares doll quilt (aka economy patch) with both funkiness and great attention to detail. The border around the diamonds in squares alternates between the green calico and brown printed fabrics. Surely this is an indication of the care with which the maker created this small quilt. At the same time, the backing consists of a central calico bar set at an angle between two sections of brown wool. Intentional or careless? Who knows? It is nicely hand quilted. Triangles Quilt with Printed Panel: Ca. 1870; Mass.
Triangles Quilt with Printed Panel: Ca. 1870; Mass.   $1,085

Thousand Pyramids Quilt with a most unusual center of a printed panel depicting an elegant equestrienne with her hound. It is unusual for a highly pieced quilt to have a central panel. In this case, the elegance of the subject compared with the "country" aspect of the quilt makes for an even more unlikely, though successful, pairing. It is knotted, not quilted. Very good condition. Measures 65" x 87". From the Chadwick Family of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.
