Touching Stars Quilt with Applique: circa 1870; Pennsylvania   $2,850

This touching Stars quilt has the most unusual addition of appliqued flowers giving a nice "pop" to the already bold pattern. The solid red used for the deep triangle border is another element that adds drama. It is well quilted with small clamshell patterns. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition. Measurements are 84 inches square. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870's.

Maryland Album Quilt: Circa 1860   $2,250

Nine block album quilt with wreaths and pots of flowers, no two of which are the same. The pots of flowers in the corners facing inward give a nice symmetry to the overall design. It is clearly a rural version of a Baltimore Album quilt. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition. It is well quilted with feathered vines along the grid and border. The applique border flowers are an effective continuation of the shapes of the flowers within the quilt. Maryland... Click for details

Farmer's Delight Quilt: Circa 1850; Virginia   $885

Farmer's Delight is a pattern almost always originating in Virginia and most often in the Shenandoah Valley. It also goes by the name Farmer's Fancy. This early example is beautifully quilted with concentric clamshell patterns that have also been seen in other Farmer's Delights. It has been professionally laundered and is in spotless condition. The background fabric is slightly creamier in color than the medallions in which the circles are set. With very close examination, one can find several... Click for details

Swirling Pinwheels Quilt: Circa 1880   $2,975

This is one of the most dramatic examples of a Swirling Pinwheel (aka Rising Sun or Wheel of Life) quilt that I have seen. The use of solid red and green punctuated by orange centers gives it real drama. The rows of diamonds around the Pinwheels add to the pulsating quality. LeMoyne Stars are another fine element. The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition. There are some slight irregularities in the green which is probably a home dyed fabric and somewhat fugitive. It is quilted with... Click for details
