Gingerbread Man Quilt with Animals: Circa 1920; Pennsylvania   $695

What young girl wouldn't have sweet dreams sleeping under this charming quilt? The center is what I believe to be a gingerbread man surrounded by a puppy, chicks, an elephant, a kitten and some indeterminate animals. All have embroidered faces. It is well quilted with a variety of patterns. The center is crosshatched with cables in two borders and flowers in the corners. The outer border is quilted with overlapping circles. There are two very tiny (smaller than a pea) spots next to the central... Click for details

What may initially appear to be a basic Log Cabin quilt actually has two unusual features. The centers are chocolate brown which is a variation from the far more usual red centers. Second is the border fabric of vining leaves. It has a shading going from white to tones of gray that is most unusual for a nineteenth century quilt but is contemporaneous with the rest of the piece. The quilt is in excellent condition; measurements are 72" x 74". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880's. The backing is a... Click for details

Three jaspe pitchers typical of the collectible designs of this rustic terra cotta French pottery. Windmill Blades Log Cabin Doll Quilt: Ca. 1880; Pa.   $485

This Windmill Blades (aka Pineapple) Log Cabin doll quilt is simultaneously crude and sophisticated. The concept of a central Blade with a piano key border could not be better. Pink strips are regularly placed in the corners and middle so it seems that the maker was intentional in her choices. Execution, though, is a little wonky which actually adds a lot of charm. It is mounted on a stretcher measuring 18 1/4" x 19 1/4". Excellent condition; made circa 1880's in Pennsylvania.
