This bold Lone Star quilt is softened with delicate arrangements of flowers and fruit in the white spaces. Each is a different group of flowers and berries one of which also includes three birds. The applique is very finely done with equally well stitched embroidery. It is signed in ink "Charles P. Baile Feb. 1857". Economy Patch Quilt: Circa 1880's; Pennsylvania   $650

This Economy Patch quilt has been packed away and is as fresh as the day it was made some 125 years ago. The solid and printed reds contrast wonderfully with the variety of multicolor fabrics. Three borders echoing the colors of the body of the quilt tie it all together. The overall palette is somewhat different than one usually sees making for a sophisticated looking country quilt. Measurements are 69" x 79"; Pennsylvania origin.

Floral Wreaths Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania
Floral Wreaths Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania   $2,150

This lovely Floral Wreaths quilt has many traditional elements yet shows its own unique personality. The repetition of the flower in the center of the wreath is an unusual variation. Berries or grapes in the border with a leaf different from the interior is also somewhat out of the ordinary as is the sashing separating the blocks. One does not usually see that in applique quilts. It is very nicely quilted with diamonds throughout. Measurements are 63" x 68" which is unusually small for this... Click for details

HUGE Domed Sterling Silver Modernist Earrings
HUGE Domed Sterling Silver Modernist Earrings   $285

Surely, these Modernist sterling silver earrings are the largest I've seen. They measure 2" in diameter. Fortunately, they are light weight enough to be very comfortable to wear. The center circle is slightly domed. Clip backs can easily be changed to posts. Signed ZINA.

French Terra Cotta Jugs   $675

These French terra cotta storage jugs are unusually large. The one on the left is 17 1/2" tall and the right is 21 1/2". They were most likely made for storage of food like olives but have decorative uses in contemporary homes. In addition to vases for flowers, for instance, they would make wonderful umbrella or cane stands. They are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. They show expected signs of wear for utilitarian pottery. Probably made circa 1930. They are offered for sale... Click for details

Chintz Broderie Perse Crib Quilt: Circa 1830
Chintz Broderie Perse Crib Quilt: Circa 1830   $11,000

Rarely does one find a broderie perse (chintz applique) crib size quilt and certainly not with the graceful and full design of this fine example. It is richly colored with the appearance of considerable depth to the garlands of flowers. The chintz cut outs are the same fabric often used by venerated quiltmaker Achsah Goodwin Wilkins (1775-1854). The quilt is illustrated on page 176 of "America's Quilts and Coverlets" by Safford and Bishop and page 44 of Woodard and Greenstein's "Crib Quilts and... Click for details
