This Classic Baltimore album quilt has all of the fine needlework that one expects to find in this most prized category of 19th century quilts. It is beautifully quilted with tiny stitches and graceful patterns that wraparound the appliqued blocks. The blocks are done with a combination of applique; reverse applique; embroidery and padded applique making for three dimensional blocks. The vine and flowers border beautifully carries through the applique in the body of the quilt. The quilt has the... Click for details

Folky Sampler Crib Quilt with American Flag: Ca. 1920; Massachusetts   $3,800

It's safe to say that this folky sampler or album crib quilt is a one of a kind. The blocks are appliqued; ruched and embroidered. Many are floral motifs but it also includes an American flag; eagle; stars and moon as well as two not quite determined animals. It's interesting that even though there is a range of detail and skill, it all appears to have been done by the same hand. The front is a wool ground with primarily wool applique and embroidery that seems to be late 19th century. The... Click for details

Tumbling Blocks Charm Quilt: Circa 1880; Pennsylvania   $695

This Tumbling Blocks quilt is made more special by the fact that it is a charm quilt - that is, no fabric is repeated. Patched and Embroidered Denim Overalls: Circa 1950   $450.00

Both pairs of heavily mended; patched and embroidered overalls have taken on a life of their own. They owners of these work pants were either very poor and/or very dedicated to their clothing. They are reminiscent of the tradition of Japanese boros in which clothing and bedcovers are mended many times over and elevated in status from functional textiles to that of art. It is not a tradition, though, that one often sees in this country. It is clear on the adult pants in particular that the sewer... Click for details

Concrete Garden Ornament of a Dog: Circa 1930
Concrete Garden Ornament of a Dog: Circa 1930   $295

This whimsical concrete dog was surely meant for a garden but I am sure he is housebroken and would be equally happy indoors. The dog measures 13 1/4" tall and 9" from front to back. It is nicely hand painted with a bit of a silly smile. Made circa 1930's.
