Baskets of Flowers Quilt: Circa 1900
Baskets of Flowers Quilt: Circa 1900   $1,575

This Baskets of Flowers quilt could not be more bold and straightforward. It is well pieced; appliqued and quilted. Using the same colors for the details of the Baskets as well as the flowers pulls it all together. At first glance, it appears that the red and green flowers on the left of each basket are done with reverse applique. Closer examination, though, shows that the green was actually stitched on top of the red. The piece is very well quilted with a wreath in each off block and cable... Click for details

Nine Patch Crib Quilt: Circa 1880's; Pennsylvania
Nine Patch Crib Quilt: Circa 1880's; Pennsylvania   $575

This Nine Patch crib quilt is simultaneously crude and sophisticated. It is a basic pattern made with an unusual color palette. The consistently white centers surrounded by irregular placement of calico gives it a nice, irregular twinkle. Measurements are 31 1/2" x 38 1/2". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880's. Slight fraying to the binding in some places but no other condition issues. The backing is cotton muslin.

Nine Patch inside Garden Maze Quilt: Circa 1869;Virginia   $1,185

This is an unusual combination of the Garden Maze pattern filled with Nine Patches on point. The Maze is a beautiful shade of blue/gray. It is stronger in color than most of the Nine Patches so it seems to come forward while they recede a bit giving a nice three dimensional quality to the pattern. The backing is a beautiful, soft stripe and floral pattern to which the quilt can be reversed for a second, entirely different quilt. Excellent, unwashed condition. Measurements are 93" x 96. Sterling Silver Jungle Animal Sculptures
Sterling Silver Jungle Animal Sculptures   $875

Five sterling silver jungle animal sculptures that are well textured and detailed. Largest of the group is the elephant that measures 2 5/16" tall and 4 1/4" from tail to trunk. He may have been done by a different maker than the rest of the group as he is considerably heavier and does not have a maker's mark as the others do (although it is undecipherable). The animals are not in proportion to their actual size in that the bird is larger than the hippo. The bird has a fish in its mouth. All... Click for details

Mariner's Compass Crib Quilt: Circa 1880; Pennsylvania   $4,500

This stunning Mariner's Compass crib quilt is unlike any other I've seen in terms of color palette as well as design. The central Compass is framed with quarter Compasses and a triangle border. Quilting follows the pieced blocks. The quilt is from the Ausherman Family of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania ( Franklin County). It is professionally mounted on a stretcher that is wired to be hung either horizontally or vertically. The green is more vibrant than appears on my monitor. If you would like to... Click for details

Boots Quilt: Circa 1930
  Boots Quilt: Circa 1930   $2,850

To the best of my knowledge, this Boots pattern quilt is a one of a kind. Because of the two colors, I am not certain whether they are meant to be boots or high button shoes, but in either case, it is a real rarity. There are 156 boots which gives it all a wonderful abstract quality as well. It is stitched with something of an echo pattern around the boots. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition. Measurements are 60" x 74". The quilt came with a vague... Click for details
