This charming Double Nine Patch quilt has smaller than postage stamp pieces. Each block measures a mere half an inch in diameter. It is made entirely of solid color fabrics. Consistent use of red centers enhances the diagonal chain effect.The ten borders repeat the colors used throughout the quilt. The white blocks are quilted with patterns of feathered flowers. Measurements are 75" x 87". Indiana origin; circa 1920.

Mabe pearl and gold asymmetrical ring by modernist designer, Betty Cooke. The ring has a gray mabe pearl with mauve undertones that measures 17.3 mm in diameter. The pearl is set off center with an open, adjustable shank. The ring is size 7 but can easily be modified. |

| Pinwheels Crib Quilt: Circa 1910;Pennsylvania $695 |  |
I am taking the liberty of naming this unusual pattern as Feathered Pinwheels. The four blocks in the center are a traditional Pinwheel but the addition of triangles around it create something new. Placement of the triangles creates an overall diamond pattern in addition.
The quilt is made of a small white on blue print. It is very nicely quilted with feathers throughout. It has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition.

These are barely worn leather shoes made in the second
quarter of the 19th century. They have a label from Rodney's Manufacturer at 17 North Third Street in Philadelphia.
In the 18th and early 19th centuries, shoemaking was one of Philadelphia's leading industries. In the 1850's, shoes began to be made shaped for left and right feet. | Toile de Jouy Quilt - Mohicans at the Waterfall: Circa 1830 $2,650 | |
This French toile de jouy fabric was undoubtedly made for the American market as it depicts the Mohicans at the Waterfall.
The front of the quilt is cotton and the back appears to be linen. The front is in excellent condition. There are some holes on the back that seem to be where the quilt was caught in the bedsprings.
The fabric is richly colored shades of red and pink. It does not have any of the brownish tones that show on my monitor. Measurements are 93" x 98". |

| | Baskets Quilt: Circa 1880; Ohio $2,475 |
This Baskets Quilt has so much going on that it is difficult to know how to name it. An appliqued flower comes out of each basket. It has a triple diagonal sashing intersecting with Nine Patch blocks.
Repeated use of the green calico on the base of the baskets; handles and flower stems makes a nice balance to the strong use of solid red. Stems of the flowers are finely embroidered.

Finely made Four Patch in Nine Patch quilt from Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Pinned to it is a tag from The Franklin County Quilt Documentation Project.
The quilt is made of a lovely assortment of printed 1870's fabrics. The backing is a Bars pattern.
The quilt is in pristine, unwashed condition. Measurements are 84 inches square. |

| | Log Cabin Pattern Hooked Rug; Circa 1920;New York $385 |
This hooked rug is done in a quilt pattern known as Straight Furrows Log Cabin. The diagonal lights and darks make a wonderful design.
The rug is made of wool; circa 1920's; from New York State. The rug itself is in excellent condition. Measurements are 18" x 36". It is mounted on a homemade stretcher that, in all honesty, is not an enhancement. It should probably be re-mounted or it could be used as a table mat without being mounted. |

| Abstract Floral Rug: Circa 1900; Pennsylvania $625 | |
This unusual floral abstract design rug is done with a technique called prodding or poking. It is similar to hooking but different in that the ends of the strips of fabric are not secured. The strips are poked through the foundation and the ends left loose creating a shaggy surface.
The design of this rug, combined with the loose texture, produce a wonderful effect.

| | Pots of Flowers Quilt: Circa 1920 $2,200 |
This Pots of Flowers Quilt is unusual in that it is simultaneously fanciful and elegant. The blossoms are far larger than their container giving this otherwise elegant quilt a touch of whimsey. The entire quilt is done in cotton sateen making it "dressier" than many. The applique and reverse applique are elaborately done.
Measurements are 84 inches square. Unwashed, excellent condition. Made circa 1920. |
