Pieced Waist Pocket: Circa 1830; Connecticut   $1275.    

This is a most unusual waist pocket with pieced diagonal stripes of a wonderful variety of early 19th century fabrics. The backing is a printed fabric different from those on the front. It is in excellent condition; measurements are 10" wide x 17" long. It is from the Perrin Family of Woodstock, Connecticut.

A variety of flowers and a bird and butterfly adorn this unusual mantelpiece cover. The embroidery is all done in wool. Most of the applique is wool with a bit of velvet. It measures 70" long and 9" deep. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.

Log Cabin Pin Cushion: Circa 1`870: pa.   $275.   

Unusually large pin cushion done as a Pineapple Log Cabin. It measures 4 1/2" a 8" and 3" tall. It is made of fine wool and is probably filled with sawdust. Excellent condition; Pennsylvania origin. Made in the 1870's.

This unusual practice piece of cross stitched designs includes flowers; birds and geometric patterns on a blue checked ground. Most often, this type of work is seen ornamenting aprons; pillows or comforters but it is quite rare to see as large a piece as this with a variety of patterns. Most are cross stitched directly to the large ground material but several were done on smaller pieces of fabric and appliqued to the main piece.
