Stunningly quilted Hawaiian applique. Echo quilting throughout. I see too few Hawaiian quilts to be familiar with the iconography of the appliqued motifs. This most resembles the Crown of Ka'iulani illustrated in Robert Shaw's "Hawaiian Quilt Masterpieces". Excellent condition; professionally laundered. Circa 1930.

New York Beauty Quilt in colors that are truly warm and glowing. Rarely seen pattern because it is so difficult to execute. Lemoyne Star in the center of each block is a nice addition. Well quilted with wreaths in the off blocks and feathering in the border. Professionally laundered; excellent condition. Measures 82" square; circa 1920.

Variation of a Twenty Five Patch Quilt that also goes by the name of Mrs. Hoover's Colonial Quilt or more traditionally, Irish Chain. The Four Patches created between the main blocks make it more than the usual usual Irish Chain. Very finely quilted. Has one small pink spot (that I have not tried to remove) but otherwise excellent condition. Measures 86" x 98"; circa 1920.

The pattern, colors and quilting come together in this Touching Stars quilt to make a truly stellar pattern (pun intended). Eight point stars are traditionally made of diamond shaped pieces. The use of strips in this example makes for a particularly dramatic rendition.Unwashed condition; has two tiny spots, otherwise perfect. Excellent quilting with a different pattern in each area.
