Elegant Tree Everlasting quilt pattern done with glazed chintz. Well quilted with leaves in the white bars and cable patterns on the chintz. The chintz is the same fabric throughout but is distributed so that one can see pillars, lattice baskets and flowers in different areas. Excellent condition; circa 1850. Exquisitely quilted Touching Stars pattern. Rather than the usual composition of diamonds, these stars are made entirely of small triangles. Varied directional placement of the triangles gives the pattern additional movement. Wonderful array of late 19th century fabrics. Lovely fine piping around the edge. Measures a generous 96" x 98". Western Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.
