Buzzard's Roost Quilt: Circa 1870; New York   SOLD

Research tells me the name of this unusual geometric pattern is Buzzard's Roost but it is not a design I have seen before. It is as crisp and fresh as the day it was made in the 1870's. Beautiful selection of printed fabrics. Measures 76" x 88"; New York State origin.

Light and Dark Log Cabin Quilt: Circa 1870
Light and Dark Log Cabin Quilt: Circa 1870   $675.

Light and Dark Log Cabin Quilt made of beautiful wool challis fabrics. Deep blues and browns are used consistently to frame groups of four blocks. Excellent condition. Measures 70" x 80"; circa 1870.

Four Point Stars Quilt: Circa 1870   $1285.

There does not seem to be an established name for this takeoff of a Four Point Star quilt pattern. It is much more complex than one usually sees. The way the blocks are positioned creates an octagon around each star giving the entire piece a wonderful swirling effect. Beautiful combination of 1870's fabrics. Excellent condition; measures 75" x 90"; circa 1870.
Four Point Stars Quilt: Circa 1870
Evening Stars Quilt: Circa 1890
Evening Stars Quilt: Circa 1890   $695.

Classic Evening Stars quilt done in solid red and white with tiny black print. Nice cable pattern quilting in the red grid; geometric pattern in the stars. Excellent condition. Measures 71" x 81"; circa 1890. The red is a beautiful mellow color. It is not toward orange as appears on my monitor.
