Dynamic and most unusual String Stars Quilt from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Although primarily done as a String Star pattern, the maker used some whimsey in inserting bits of traditional patterns such as Wild Goose Chase and Sixteen Patch. Initially the pattern may look a bit frenzied but in actuality, it is quite ordered with octagons, for instance, in the center of the main and satellite stars. Robbing Peter to Pay Paul doll quilt that is both quilted and tied. Both the colors and pattern itself give this a terrific positive/negative effect. Pink is cotton and the black is velvet. Excellent condition. Professionally mounted on a stretcher measuring 11 1/2" x 15 1/4".

Interesting quilting pattern of thistles set at right angles to the long Bars. Measures 73" x 80". Lebanon County, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1860. A real gem for lovers of early fabrics.
