Lone Star Quilt with Broderie Perse; Circa 1830
Lone Star Quilt with Broderie Perse; Circa 1830   Inquire for Price

Glorious is the best way to describe this Lone Star quilt with chintz border and applique (broderie perse). The colors are as vibrant as the day it was made in the 1830's. It is finely stipple quilted with diagonal lines. The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition. The chintz retains its original glaze. There were a very few nicks in the chintz border. Rather than risk any additional, I had very fine netting sewn over the border to stabilize it. It is evident to the touch but not to the... Click for details

Lancaster County Amish Nine Patch Quilt: Circa 1930's   $9,500

This stunning Nine Patch variation has all of the bells and whistles one hopes for in a Lancaster County Amish quilt. The colors are the classic jewel tones used in Lancaster wool quilts. The same Nine Patch on point blocks are used throughout but the use of color creates a center medallion. It is well quilted with a variety of floral patterns. Condition is excellent; measurements are 84" square. Made in the 1930's.

Mennonite Windmill Blades Log Cabin Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania
Mennonite Windmill Blades Log Cabin Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania   $5,200

This Mennonite Windmill Blades Log Cabin quilt (aka Pineapple Log Cabin) is one of the finest I have had the pleasure to own. It is made of wool challis with deep, rich colors and five borders that repeat fabrics within the quilt. The logs are a mere 1/4" in width. Corner blocks of diagonal stripes are the ultimate finishing point. Measurements are 72" x 83". Annville, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870. Excellent condition.

American Flag Quilt: Circa 1950's; Pennsylvania   $1,450

Patriotic quilts were often made at the time a state was admitted to the Union. It seems highly probable that this 49 star quilt was made to commemorate the admission of Hawaii in January, 1959. The flag itself has 16 stars and the surrounding field an additional 33. The fabrics are compatible with this time frame. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition. It is nicely quilted with several geometric patterns. The corner of each outer frame has a quilted... Click for details

Light and Dark Log Cabin Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania
Light and Dark Log Cabin Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania   $1,675

This Light and Dark wool challis Log Cabin quilt is done with unusually light tones. A note pinned to the quilt explains that the fabrics were from two dresses of the maker, Louisa Dreibelbis. One can only assume they were among her favorites. While the front of the quilt is entirely of fine wools, the backing is made of cotton pieced in a Bars pattern. The quilt is in excellent condition. There is a very small darned area in one corner where it may have gotten caught on something. Measurements... Click for details

Denim Indigo Quilt: Circa 1970   $985

This unusual indigo quilt is made entirely of denim jeans. It is reminiscent of a Japanese boro in which indigo garments are repurposed into bedcovers. Shadows of pockets and stitched seams add visual interest. This piece would make a very sturdy bedcover or wonderful abstract wallhanging. Measurements are 86" x 89; made circa 1980. It is a top with finished edges but no backing; excellent condition.

Plaid One Patch Quilt: Circa 1920; Pennsylvania
Plaid One Patch Quilt: Circa 1920; Pennsylvania   $1,450

This One Patch quilt made almost entirely of plaid cotton flannels is both simple and sophisticated. It took an artistic eye to put together this large combination of plaids in a palette of mauves, grays and browns. The four deep indigo squares are wool, also plaid. The backing is also a plaid flannel with striped flannel on either end.Measurements are 64" x 74". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1920.
