Centennial Bandanna Quilt with Log Cabin Pattern
Centennial Bandanna Quilt with Log Cabin Pattern   $1,950

The Centennial bandanna forms a central medallion for this Log Cabin quilt done in the 1870's. It's always useful to have a date such as on the bandanna in order to verify the age of the fabrics forming the Log Cabin. Slight fraying on the binding and one split in the interior seen on a close-up. Measures 80" x 91"; Pennsylvania origin.

Feathered Stars Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania   $1,875

Crisp and freshly laundered Feathered Stars quilt done in rust and green calico. Well pieced and quilted with several traditional Pennsylvania designs. Circa 1870. Measures 85" wide x 82" long.

Wool Bricks Comforter: Pennsylvania; Circa 1890
Wool Bricks Comforter: Pennsylvania; Circa 1890   $795

This comforter is like op art of the 19th century. The contrast of the red on black circles tied with white thread atop the rectangles make the pattern really move. The darks are wool suiting fabrics. Clearly, this was made for warmth as it is quite heavy, but it was done by someone with an artistic eye. Area of light discoloration visible in thumbnail but it does nothing to detract from the overall impact. Circa 1890; Pennsylvania origin. Measures 69" x 71".

Evening Stars Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania   $1,525

This is one of the most classic of nineteenth century quilt patterns, beautifully done in rust and green calico. The stars and delicate sawtooth border are very well pieced. Nicely quilted with an unusual undulating pattern in the border. Measures 85" square; circa 1870. Has been professionally washed. Pennsylvania origin.

Tree Everlasting with Applique Quilt;Ca. 1870
  Tree Everlasting with Applique Quilt;Ca. 1870   $2,200

To the best of my knowledge, this is a unique pattern. The bars are an unusual variation of Tree Everlasting and combined with the Crossed Tulips, I believe it to be one of a kind. The use of solid colors further sets off the wonderful center. Excellent condition; has been professionally washed. Measures 87" x 97"; circa 1870. Pennsylvania origin.

Reversible Barnraising/ One Patch Quilt; Circa 1880   $695

This bold Barnraising Log Cabin is made of wool challis from the 1870's. It reverses to a cotton calico One Patch. Dazzling use of stripes in the center. Some damage to the wools, much of which is visible in a close-up. It does not detract from the overall dramatic impact of the quilt. Measures 68" x 87"; Pennsylvania origin.

Mennonite Wool Fans Quilt; Ca. 1890; Pa.
Mennonite Wool Fans Quilt; Ca. 1890; Pa.   $695

This is a classic Fans pattern, well made in nearly all solid color wools. Unusual background color of slate blue/gray. (The photos show the colors as more blue than in reality.) Pink and green embroidery offset the primarily dark colors of the quilt. Cable quilting in the border further adds to the overall depth of the pattern. Very slight fading throughout the border with one area of subtle discoloration visible in overall photo. Circa 1890; Pennsylvania Mennonite. Measures 68" square.

Elongated Hexagons Quilt: Ca. 1880; Pa.   $595

This is a funky hexagons quilt made of blocks of an unusual elongated shape. Many of the blocks are pieced together of more than one segment of the same fabric. Not the finest piecing but it makes a bold graphic statement with a rich variety of colors and fabrics. Circa 1880;Pennsylvania origin; measures 68" x 78:.

Calico Tumbler Quilt; Circa 1880; Penn.
Calico Tumbler Quilt; Circa 1880; Penn.   $795

This is an unusual pattern done with a wonderful variety of 1880's calico fabrics. Thumbnails show many of them clearly including several of cheater's cloth. The light spot on the upper left border of the overall image is on the photo only; it is not a spot on the quilt. It is in unwashed condition. Backing is muslin. The size; pattern and variety of fabrics would make this a wonderful wall hanging. It measures 66" x 72". Pennsylvania origin.
