Sunflower/ Rising Sun Quilt: Circa 1890; Pennsylvania
Sunflower/ Rising Sun Quilt: Circa 1890; Pennsylvania   $2,250

An exuberant quilt that is unusual in several ways. The egg yolk colored centers of each sunflower date to about 1890. The three different printed fabrics used for the diamonds all date between 1830 and 1850. Wonderful border treatment really does give the effect of rising suns. Very well quilted; unwashed condition. Fabrics used for the white background have aged to different shades of ivory. If washed, they would likely all be closer to the same shade of white but I prefer to let a quilt... Click for details

Centennial Bandanna Quilt with Log Cabin Pattern
Centennial Bandanna Quilt with Log Cabin Pattern   $1,950

Slight fraying on the binding and one split in the interior seen on a close-up. Measures 80" x 91"; Pennsylvania origin.

Wool Bricks Comforter: Pennsylvania; Circa 1890
Wool Bricks Comforter: Pennsylvania; Circa 1890   $795

This comforter is like op art of the 19th century. The contrast of the red on black circles tied with white thread atop the rectangles make the pattern really move. The darks are wool suiting fabrics. Clearly, this was made for warmth as it is quite heavy, but it was done by someone with an artistic eye. Area of light discoloration visible in thumbnail but it does nothing to detract from the overall impact. Circa 1890; Pennsylvania origin. Measures 69" x 71".
