Black Eyed Susan/Barnraising Quilt: Circa 1900   $2,100   

To the best of my knowledge, this quilt pattern combining Black Eyed Susans with Barnraising is an original. The green has probably lightened with washing but the quilt remains vibrant and strong. The egg yolk yellow/ orange of the Barnraising perfectly continues the Black Eyed Susan theme. Measurements are 67" x 80". Probably Southern origin; circa 1900.

This indigo Garden Maze quilt is highlighted with an Evening Star in the center of each block. The two very geometric patterns, as well as their colors, blend well. Quilted with diagonal lines. It is in excellent, unwashed condition. Measurements are 76" x 84". New England origin; circa 1870.

String Stars Quilt: Circa 1880; Pa.   $1,675  

Bold String Stars (aka Spider Stars) quilt done in the fabrics typical of southeastern Pennsylvania in the late 19th century. The blue calico ground and double pink sashing and border scream Lancaster County. Solid colors used in the center of the stars highlight their octagonal shape. The dark solid colors are indigo, not black as they may appear. The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition. In the upper right corner is the name Bertha done in paint. Measurements are 77" x 80".

Outstanding Baltimore Album quilt that combines both traditional and whimsical, original blocks. The eagle draws the eye to the center and then allows it to meander through the variety of finely detailed blocks. Signatures indicate the quilt was related to the North and Horner families of mid 19th century Baltimore. More complete information is available to purchaser.

Richly colored Wild Goose Chase quilt (aka Geese in Flight) from the early 19th century. Abutting the triangles gives a terrific up and down movement to the "geese". Streak of Lightning border was meant to indicate the end for the head. Clamshell quilting in outer border; diagonal lines and stylized flowers in the triangles. It is safe to say that this amazing quilt filled with animals is a one of a kind. It is a glorious combination of barnyard animals as well as whales; giraffes and fish. In addition, it has a variety of fruits and vegetables. It is a summer spread professionally mounted on a stretcher that is hinged for easier transport. Measurements are 80" square. Starbursts Quilt Circa 1850 Pennsylvania   $5,900  

Starbursts are just the beginning of patterning of this exciting quilt. Diamonds are filled with Robbing Peter to Pay Paul type circles that look quite different when used in half around the border. Red centers are strategically placed within the stars. The blue and ivory border chintz beautifully complements the printed fabrics of the interior. Squares within squares such as this are called an Economy Patch quilt pattern. It is made of a terrific combination of late 19th century printed fabrics. Consistent use of yellow squares on the outer edge make a clever differentiation while actually using the same pattern throughout.The backing is a pink and green calico Bars pattern, often seen in quilts from southeast Pennsylvania. Measurements are 82" square; circa 1880. Excellent condition.

Beautiful Feathered Diamonds Quilt with a diagonal sashing. The white open diamonds highlight the fine quilting of feather patterns. The sawteeth, or feathers, are done with a wonderful variety of fabrics. Excellent, unwashed condition. Measures 80" x 96". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.

Nine Patch Quilt made of fine, printed wool challis fabrics on both front and back. It has a wonderfully rich color palette. Measurements are 72" x 88". Very good condition. There is a weak spot on one corner where it appears to have gotten caught on something. Made circa 1870.
