Exquisite hand hammered sterling silver bowl by silver master, William Spratling. The bowl has an unusual elongated shape with four lobes. The outside has a smooth finish and the inside intentionally shows the hand hammering marks. The footed bowl is 2 3/4 inches tall; 6 1/8" long and 5 1/8" wide. It has been professionally polished and is in excellent condition. The bowl weighs 261 grams. The bottom bears Spratling's marks dating to the 1940's. Sterling Ring and Earrings by Minas   $735.00  

This large size sterling silver ring and earring set was made by Minas (Minas Spiridis), Greek jeweler since the 1970's. His work is characterized by fluid, streamlined designs. Minas died in April, 2020 at the age of 82. The diagonal stripe design is sterling and what I believe to be a gold wash. The ring is 1 3/16 inches in length and 13/16" in width. William Spratling Sterling and Wood Duck Master Salt

True, William Spratling favored themes that included duck bills and frequently combined wood with his silver designs. Never have I seen, though, this particular combination in which three duck bills form the ornamental base of a master salt. The piece is 2 1/4 inches tall. The silver bowl has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches including the rim. Condition is excellent. Hallmark dates from 1933 - 1939. This is useful for change and small jewelry as well as a table fixture.

This sterling silver Butterfly brooch was one of Spratling's early, very popular designs. The streamlined form very effectively conveys the detailed body of the butterfly. The silver is adorned with two cabochon amethysts. The brooch measures 2 1/2 inches at its widest and 2 1/8 inches in length. It weighs 40 grams and is in excellent condition. It's most interesting to see two interpretations of this silver feather brooch done by Antonio Pineda over a 15 year period. The example on the left, which seems the simpler of the two, is actually the later example. It has Antonio's mark used from 1953 until his death in 2009. Most unusual sterling silver and moonstone pendant by Antonio Pineda. This very rare form consists of a graceful pendant with two oval moonstones strung on a velvet cord terminating with two silver balls. The pendant measures 3 3/16" wide x 2 1/2" tall. The velvet cord is 27" long and can be tied at any length. This most unusual necklace can be worn as something either sporty or elegant. Most unusual, large size Duck Bill bottle opener by silver master, William Spratling. The head measures 3 3/4" tall and 5 " across the bill. Ducks were a popular motif for Spratling but I have never seen this design. The duck is sterling silver with Aztec jade beads for eyes. The opener functions from an opening on the bottom. Antonio Pineda Sterling and Jade Brooch   $525  

Nicely three dimensional sterling silver brooch centered with a cabochon nephrite jade. Made by the late silver master, Antonio Pineda circa 1960. The brooch is intentionally oxidized to give a darkened finish with the edges the original silver color. The brooch measures 1 3/4" in diameter and weighs a substantial 45 grams. Condition is excellent. Pineda's work is in several museum collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Tane Sterling Silver and Rubber Necklace

Very stylish necklace by Tane consisting of a heavy sterling silver loop on a rubber neck piece. Both the clasp and the knot have Tane's mark as well as the initials S.G., likely the specific designer. The neck piece measures 16 inches to the top of the silver loop. The loop measures 2 1/4 inches in length and 1 3/4 inches at the widest. The barrel shaped clasp has an additional magnetic closure as well as a safety loop. You won't lose it!
