To the best of my knowledge, this applique quilt is an original pattern. The stars are cleverly used throughout, both as whole and half blocks. The swag border frames the pattern well with shapes that are different from the interior but very complementary. The quilting is also out of the ordinary with the sunflowers as the primary pattern. Boldly colored chanticleers alternate with delicate hens marching across this unusual quilt. Though a Mountain Mist pattern, it is very rarely seen. The border is full of chicks hatching from their eggs. Embroidered on two of the eggs is "Aunt Kathryn" and "Mother 1932". Made in Loch Haven, Pennsylvania with names of makers and family background available to purchaser. Nicely quilted; finely appliqued and embroidered. Measures 66" x 80"; excellent condition.
