Circles are tacked to one another but not sewn down all the way around, probably done by a mother with too much to do and not enough time. Measures 13 3/4" x 14 1/4". Cross stitched crib quilt with images primarily of animals but also including a house, sailboat, automobile and little girl. Unusual for a cross stitched quilt to be done on the blue and white checked fabric that was most often used for aprons in the late 19th century. Each block is individually sewn then pieced together. Nicely quilted with cable pattern in the border. Excellent condition; circa 1910. Pennsylvania origin; measures 28 1/2" x 41".
Pristine Nine Patch Crib Quilt that is from the same family as item #1003013. Fabrics are slightly different but most clearly, they were made for siblings. Pristine condition; measures 40" x 41". Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880.

Nice small scale to the Nine Patch blocks which are framed with a triple border of very typically Pennsylvania calico prints. Measures 38" square. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880.
Large size Variable Stars Crib Quilt with a wonderful Wild Goose Chase grid and border. Red ruffled edge provides an unusual additional frame. Written in ink on the back it says "Mildreds Christmas, from Great Grandmother Cornell. 1893." A separately sewn tag has the numbers 68.83 leading me to believe it is an accession number from a museum. Probably New England origin. Measures 47 1/2" x 58" including ruffle. Reds are a little softer in color than show on my monitor.

Unusual construction in that it is quilted and seems to have batting but has an additional white cotton backing that appears to be original. Professionally laundered; pristine condition. Blue and white crib quilt is a delicate version of the Sawtooth pattern. Well quilted; several different blue calico fabrics used. Very good condition; has a group of several very small spots that I have not tried to remove. They are visible in close-up image. Four borders are a strong anchor for this airy pattern.
