Fabulously made herringbone pattern cocktail set in sterling silver and copper. Five piece set includes 9" martini shaker; two shot glasses (2" tall); a covered container for toothpicks (2 1/4" tall) and a dish for olives that is 5 1/4" in diameter. Ohio Amish Trip Around the World Crib Quilt done in a combination of soft and deep, muted colors. Cotton; nicely pieced and quilted. Measures 39" x 48"; circa 1930.
Rolling Stone quilt done in soft solid colors of blue and yellow. Blocks abut one another creating a positive/ negative effect that this pattern does not usually have. Excellent, unwashed condition. Stars quilted in the center of each block as well as in both borders. Measures 80" square. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1930.
Unusual Nine Patch Hooked Rug that is more like a quilt pattern than that of a rug. Made of fairly heavy wools and hooked (or shirred?)in an unusual way that makes the texture look like brain matter. Cleverly composed so that the rust colored squares both outline the Nine Patches and are repeated to form corner blocks. Rich colors; pristine condition. Measures 26 1/2" x 65". Circa 1930.
Fans quilt in colors that look like they've been drawn with crayons. The use of all solid colors makes for a bold image. A little primitive in construction but dynamic nonetheless. Measures 66 x 78"; Maryland origin. Circa 1930.
Fresh and cheerful Nine Patch quilt. Each block consistently combines printed and solid fabrics. Nice variety of 1930's prints including one with clowns. Unwashed condition; one minor light brown smudge. Measures 79" x 81"; Maryland origin.
Twelve black mammies present themselves on this 1930's quilt. Each is dressed in different clothing with prints typical of the era. In addition to the embroidered faces, head scarves add to the realistic impression of the figures. Excellent, probably never washed condition. Diamonds quilted in grid and border; diagonal lines in main blocks. Texas origin; measures 60" x 72".
Unusual, cheerful Circles quilt that looks like blown bubbles. Variety of 1930's printed fabrics are unified by the solid blue centers. Interesting construction in that each group of the circles is appliqued to a hexagon block. Unwashed; excellent condition. Measures 78" square; Pennsylvania origin.
This is one of the perkiest Schoolhouse quilts I've seen. Colors are symmetrically placed to give a very unified composition. Floral prints in the windows look like a wonderful variety of curtains. Nicely quilted. Colors are both soft and bright; condition is pristine. Measures 84" x 93" Pennsylvania origin; circa 1930.
It's hard to imagine a more charming doll quilt than this with the Faces (not phases) of the moon. Completely original pattern; excellent condition. Hand quilted. Circa 1930; Ohio origin. Measures 16 1/2" x 23".
