Vibrant hooked rug in a geometric stepped pattern that is wonderfully framed by a contrasting curvilinear border. Colors are as fresh as the day it was made - in the 1930's. Un-used condition. Measures 27" x 41"; Pennsylvania origin.
Extraordinary Grenfell hooked mat that is exceptional in several ways. The pattern is unusual; rarely did they use geometric motifs. The octagonal shape of the rug is also a rarity. The colors are rich and stunning. Condition is like brand new. Original label is present and totally intact. Measures 12 1/4" square. Looks dramatic placed on square or on point. Circa 1930; Newfoundland; Labrador.
Unusual hooked rug combining chevrons with bands of undulating lines. An unlikely combination of patterns that work well together. Deep, rich colors. Excellent condition; wool. Measures 33 1/2" x 63 1/2"; New England origin. Circa 1920.
Although this Roosters hooked rug is faded on one side, it still has plenty of life on the reverse. Wonderful composition. All wool; circa 1900. Measures 21 1/2" x 35". Binding is frayed but body of rug is in excellent condition. Circa 1900.
This pair of hooked rugs is unusual in several ways. One does not often find a pair of rugs; the cable pattern is not often seen and the color palette is out of the ordinary. They have tremendous movement and would serve as well on a wall as on the floor. Measure 38 1/2" x 52". Excellent condition. Maine origin; circa 1920.
Outstanding Hooked Rug that probably appeals to me largely because it combines two patterns usually seen in quilts. The miniature versions of Trip Around the World are irresistible. The right angle blocks look like partial Log Cabins. Excellent, untouched condition. Terrific combination of deep colors; background is a beautiful blue-gray. Measures 29" x 74". Works perfectly on the floor or as a wall hanging.
Original pattern hooked rug made up primarily of irregularly placed triangles. Nice combination of solid and variegated wools. Well contained by three borders and corner blocks. Excellent condition. Measures 18 1/2" x 35 1/2". Central Pennsylvania origin; circa 1930.
Original pattern hooked rug of two Percheron horses as part of a terrific composition. Wonderful colors. Horse on the left seems to have a bit of a smile or perhaps a "come hither" expression. Excellent condition; professionally mounted. Stretcher measures 33" wide and 36 1/2" tall. Circa 1920's.
Nicely made Hit or Miss Hooked Rug with a fabulous zig zag border. This type of border is usually seen on the braided rugs of the Lancaster Amish but is rare for a hooked rug. Professionally washed and repaired. Measures 23 1/2" x 40 1/2". Circa 1920.
Classic Variable Stars Crib Quilt done in desirable blue and white. Well quilted with cable in the border and two different patterns in the central blocks. Measures 38" square; circa 1880. Ohio origin.
